• I am a person-centred counsellor which prioritises creating the healing relationship for you to experience change.

A supportive and non-judgmental relationship is the condition for self-growth at it’s most fundamental level, that we all need to reach our full potential.

Person-centred believes that we all have the answers within us. Using tools of exploration we will work together to find your answers.

  • ‘Acupuncture without the needles’ - using tapping on meridian points in the body to release trapped negative emotions and trauma.

It can allow you to transform and release feelings of hurt, shame, anger and fear. Even after just a few rounds of tapping, many people find they are calmer, lighter and generally feel better. Evidence shows that the effects of EFT can be transformational and long-lasting.

Specific issues this approach is useful for is PTSD, chronic pain, phobias, anxiety, and the effects of traumatic life events.

  • Often when we are dealing with trauma and distressing emotions we find it difficult to live in the present and our nervous system is very reactive, where the body is often triggered into a stress response.

Using breathwork we can calm our nervous system down to a rest and digest state and with mindfulness we can learn to operate more in the present. This helps us to notice unhelpful thought patterns that we’d like to change and to appreciate the world in a new way.

  • Trauma and distressing emotions can manifest itself in the body, so I may suggest simple yoga postures to aid this. Yoga can help bring you more into the present moment and notice what is going on in your body, for improved self-awareness and self-compassion.

Yoga in the therapy room is different than in a class as we use this as a tool in conjunction with verbally exploring your issues. As in all my 1-1 work, everything is optional and tailored to you.

Professional Experience

I am a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy member (BACP) and work with clients according to their ethical standards. Alongside my private practice I work under the NHS Tameside Mental Health Support Team (MHST) service across several high schools. This role focuses on preventative mental health intervention, where I offer counselling for young people with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, anger, low self-esteem and amongst other issues that young people face.

I also work with clients at a large trauma informed centre for women, who have experienced domestic abuse or other mental health issues. All with excellent results, where continually clients come out of therapy feeling more centred, stronger, with coping tools, and hope for the future!

I work with an understanding of trauma and use my training in recognising ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences), offering a trauma informed approach, and recommending body-based techniques to work with how your traumatic memories effect your experience of life, and how to reduce distressing symptoms.

I have experience counselling people who have lost a loved one at an NHS bereavement centre and have over 6 years’ experience working in the charity sector, including senior roles in Business Development, and roles where I worked directly with individuals who had complex mental health conditions.

During this I have been working on my own wellbeing, practising yoga for over 7 years and finally becoming a qualified teacher in 2019. My own practice of yoga, other wellbeing tools (mindfulness, journaling, breathwork), and all completed training has been a journey of self-awareness and self-development, that is so important for this work.

All so I could land at this place… Not only have I experienced the transformational power of the services I offer, but crucially it means I bring a more intuitive, calm, and centred version of myself to offer the best space for your empowerment, your growth, and simply the space to sit with those vulnerable hidden parts, for greater acceptance for all the person you are.
